A Workout a Day May Keep Cancer Away

According to recent research that will be presented at the largest cancer specialist conference at the end of this month, keeping physically active and staying in shape may help keep cancer away or increase survival chances once diagnosed. The American Society of Clinical Oncology will meet at the end of the month in Chicago to present this research along with other recent cancer studies. Researchers from the University of Vermont studied over 17,000 males for the 20 years and found that those who exercised were 68% less likely to develop lung cancer and 38% less likely to develop colorectal cancer than less active males. For those who were diagnosed with some form of cancer, their risk of death was decreased by 14% for each incremental increase in fitness level. For more information on this study and others being presented at the conference, be sure to check out this article from CNN.

Be sure to stay active!
